We are a community-based charitable organization providing education, hope and support to individuals with cancer and their families

  • Transportation Assistance

Our transportation program helps you get to your cancer related appointments. We offer a door-to-door service for clients who need rides through our volunteer driver program. For clients who choose to drive themselves (or family/friend as driver), we will reimburse the client mileage to and from appointments.

  • Accommodation Assistance

SCCR has partnered with several places to stay during treatment away from home. We can assist you with the cost if you require accommodation.

Contact SCCR for more information on reduced rates for SCCR clients at partnering hotels and funding assistance.

  • Lymphedema Program

Our Lymphedema support program offers financial assistance to help with the costs of Lymphedema massage through a certified therapist or the purchase of Lymphedema garments.

  • Wigs and Head Coverings

We have a selection of wigs and head coverings that we lend to clients who require them. Hope Haven is a room that provides comfort and privacy while trying on and choosing a wig or head covering that feels right. Learn More

Call us at 204-822-9541 to arrange an appointment for a fitting.

  • Skin Screening Clinics

Our skin screening clinics are offered in partnership with a dermatologist to check for possible skin cancer. These clinics are offered at no cost and are open to the public. Learn more.

Please contact us to join our waiting list.

  • Radon Awareness and Testing

Radon is a colourless, odorless, radioactive gas that is found naturally in the environment and can increase your risk of lung cancer. Radon can enter your home through cracks or gaps in walls or the foundation. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, 24% of homes in Manitoba have radon gas levels higher than Health Canada Standards. We will help you get your home tested, contact us for more info.

Radon awareness month is coming up in November. Stay tuned for our radon awareness program to be released!

  • Wellness Programs

SCCR aims to provide wellness programs to help individuals improve mental, emotional and physical health during and after treatment. Our programs change to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

    Our wellness programs include:

    Beautiful You

Giving each individual that attends the tools they need to look and feel their very best.

    Balance and Strength

Giving our clients options of regaining strength in their muscles and in their minds after treatment with our partnership with yoga and health facilities in the areas we service. When clients chose their own fitness program we can reimburse a portion of those costs.

About Us

In 2003 SCCR was created to help support individuals with cancer and their families in South Central Manitoba by striving to provide information, transportation, head coverings, services, education and resources they may need on their cancer journey. SCCR relies on the generous support of community donors, volunteers and fundraising to continue to offer numerous services and programs.

“It is difficult to say what is impossible,
for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.”
